Need Help With Aux Input

Hi all, I recently bought the BMW auxiliary audio input and tried to install it into my 2002 X5 3.0i (non-nav, non-DSP, non-multiCD). I can not get the aux to work. I plugged everything in according to the instructions given and your website. I press the mode button but all I get is radio and CD. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

FYI - I installed the item without unplugging the battery or fuses

The reason this isn't working for you is the AUX only works with 2003 and newer radio modules. If you look at the first page on this document - http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/E3...nstallInst.pdf - it says that this kit is for X5's from 10/02 production and beyond, which is the 2003 model year.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

:xoutpost:

p.s. you can install a radio module from a 2003 or newer and this will allow you to have AUX. That's what I did on my 2001 X5 and it works great.

In order to have BMW Aux input, your only option is to replace your radio module with one from a 2003 or newer.

There are some aftermarket Aux input solutions from vendors such as Soundgate, Blitzsafe, etc. Most of these use the CD changer connection to provide the AUX input functionality.

With nav it's the radio module that's located in the spare tire well. Without nav I believe it is the CD player unit mounted above the radio/mid.

The Business CD unit is your actual radio, the unit below is referred to as a MID (Multi Informational Display). We offer the 09/02 radios as well if you cannot find a unit on eBay.

UCrewX5 is correct on the NAV-version, the tuner is located underneath the spare tire.

FM modulated (whether it is hard wired or transmitted) is never good for sound.

You have PM!
