BM53/BM54 Radio with Single Disc MP3 Player

BM53/BM54 Radio with Single Disc MP3 Player

The people over at Bimmernav have these for sale which purport to be a direct replacement for BM53/BM54 radio.

Best Sellers BMW Navigation BM54 BM53 Radio with Single Disc MP3 Player

Does anyone have any knowledge of or experience with this product?

I currently have a BM53 with the old dead channel problem, and this looks like a resonable solution to replace it with, but I would love to hear from someone who has actual experience with them.

Cheaper than a new BM53, and also adds an additional MP3 disc to replace the useless Hidden Tape Player. Sound quality is also supposedly drastically improved

I was selling these.

They are actually using my picture at the bottom, with the red boot.

Im in the market for a bm53.. do you have any more details on this. I have an 06 that didnt have nav. I doing dsp as well. I currently have aux in so will this unit cover all my needs. I have bought a oem wiring harness from a 2003 x5 it has cd changer as well. is the connector different on this version of the bm53 and how much were you selling them for. Is there any way of mounting it where the old bm53 was. Like how in the world is 7 cds in the rear of the X useful. Could it possibly be mounted in the X's glove or under the front seat at least then i can change to another cd.

There is a reason for that, they are made out of crappy old used parts, and they go faulty.

I had 3, all 3 went faulty. It was when sent back to the supplier, and the units changed hands with other buyers till above company got them. Each buyer/seller used my photos that i had up, to try and sell them.

If you want a modded bm54 check this out.

Im reading that thread now Xkalibar thanks for the link. Im in the usa so I would need USA spec BM53. the reason I wanted the cd version which you say is crappy is because I was going mod the center console. This way my X5 has a cd player still up front if i happen to want a cd. Along with a crappy bmw dvd player in the rear seat, a WDTV, Hd radio, IPOD connection, 100gb hardrive for music and sooner or later the tv tuner for a backup cam and if the X can make it down the line a satelitle tv with direct tv.

So if your BM53/54 units have the cd player I really interested.. I will probably edit my comment after I finish reading the article and the horror stories if there are any.

thanks again.

I dont think there is much difference between a bm53 and a bm54. Just the radio frequency, which can be changed.

The AM is different for the US, 10khz steps instead of 9khz in Europe I think. My 54 FM works fine though. Just put it in last week. I still don't know all the features of the 54.

1. I dont ever use AM band.
2. I will give bimmernav some more time to get some of the crappy models in.
3. If I get tired of waiting I will buy a bm53 and send it accross the pond to xcalibar for modifying.
4. I realy want to keep cd integration but this is the only part holding up my retrofit.
