Audio System Confusion

Maybe I'm missing something. I have a 11/11 build X5 diesel with what I think is suppose to be the hi fi sound system...non Logic 7. That is to say, mids in the front and rear doors, tweeters in the Front door sails and center dash, mid in center dash and subs under the seats. Total is 10. When I look for the upgrade on the BSW site it offers tweeters for the rear doors as well. If they are there, where, because i don't see them. If not, is there a replacement speakers set offered for my configuration. Thanks in advance for the info.

The 11/11 build is indeed a 2012. Agree completely with the sucky audio system.

I have an '09 diesel with the 10 speaker set up as well. I played a couple of rounds of emails with the BSW folks, and finally their answer was that they would send out their typical Hi-Fi system and if I didn't end up using the tweeters in the rear door... just send them back.

I elected to build my own system. Four channels for the doors, separate amp for the subs. Except I'm not quite sure what to do with the center channel and how it plays with a "typical" four channel audio system.

Hope this helps.

I don't think standard hi fi has any tweeter in the rear door? It is so unbalanced system , front has 2 mid, 2 tweeters, 1 central, plus 1or 2 subs. The rest of the car just two mid range???

That's what my 2009's system has. Mids and tweeters in the front doors, mids only in the rear doors, two subs under the front seats and a mid and tweeter for the center channel.

I am trying to build my own system, instead of using the BSW stage one system.

Thanks.

imho, with existing, amp, tuner, no tweeters in the rear cabin, no speakers on the rear pillars, how much more you can do?, for how much?

I agree with other folks that think spending a lot of time/money on speakers rear of the front seat, doesn't add much to the driving experience. Unless you have a bunch of passengers riding a lot, then it may make more sense.

I also believe the system we started with isn't that bad. Replace the current speakers with some you like, (focusing on the front doors and maybe the center channel) pump up the volume with good aftermarket amps, replace the under seat subs... and you should have a respectable system, by anyone's measure.

Sure some folks may argue with this approach... that's fine. The cool part about forums like this is to share and collect ideas from others...
