2008 e61 headrest wires

hi all,
In the middle of trying to fit dvd headrests and i have some wires attached to the head rests (prob part of the cars safety devices).
What are these wires for? Is safe to disconect, without lighting up the dash? What are my choices?
Have searched the web and have found people who have fitted these, but no one has mentioned these wires??
Thanks

Headrest wires

The wires coming from the headrest are associated with your air bag system. In the event of a rear collision, your headrest will move upward and out to minimize whiplash. If you do remove the headrest you will have a SRS light on in the dash. What kind of headrest are you trying to install? I build the DVD headrests for BMW, give me a call and we can discuss your options and I will offer any and all help I can.

Thanks for the reply Chris, sorted it last week, fitted a 2.5 resistor and all ok NO lights. I had 9" screen dvd headrests in my e46 and the kids wanted them in the e61, + i'm a very determined person when i put my mind to it, lol, i always find away.
