Good thread 70-k5, I've been reading your stereo threads, I'm about to attempt a similar install. I bought a Hualingan HU, for the OEM look and the navigation, and a Jensen 5 channel amp to get rid of the DSP amp and I'll keep the stock speakers. I haven't done a stereo install since the early 90's...lol! One question for you, are the seperate crossovers necessary, it seems like most amps today have built in crossovers like the BMW DSP amp?

You need the passive crossovers if you intend to run all 10 speakers. Or if you have a desperate amplified channel for each speaker. I can't remember noe but each speaker is 5ohms or something... if you start connecting multiple speakers in parallel to a single simplified channel you will soon be replacing your amp.

Yup, I found somebody selling a four pack for the best price. $49.99 I think.

hey there do you mind showing a photo of your ignition on power in the fuse panel. I just installed a pioneer DBL din and hooked yellow and red up to the main power from the wiring harness adapter needless to say i had a dead battery after not driving the truck for a day thanks

I can but it is easy enough to probe the empty fuse slots to find ignition and batt power.

How many speakers can a single crossover control? I've been googling info about them but came up empty for that particular info.

Depends on the crossover. Typically they split one speaker output into two, a low and a high frequency. Other times they split into three frequency bands. I used the triple 303 crossovers on front and rear sets of speakers because you don't want to sent the ultra high signal of a two way crossover to a mid bass rear speaker.

Of course if you know your ohms and want to mess around with series and parallel wiring then you theoretically could rum a crap tom of speakers.

Thanks for this, I have a Pioneer APPRADIO 3 coming Tuesday, the Metra is already here and I am gearing up to tackle this.
