Dice Audiovox Mediabridge DSP Installation Help
I ordered the Mediabridge 1500 and the DSP kit. When I opened up the left rear of the cargo compartment I found the three pin connector but could not find a six pin connector or coax. There is a coax input on the amp but no cable in it. Can I just buy one and connect the DSP adapter to the amp? |

Someone Please help.
I called Audiovox and spoke to a customer service representative who then transferred me to the parts department. I requested the coaxial cable listed in the instructions that goes to from the DSP adapter to the stock BMW amplifier. The customer service representative was unsure which cable I was describing I told him in this was the only one listed in the instructions as being "coax" to the car in the instructions. He then decided to check the warehouse to determine which cable was the correct cable while I waited on hold. When he returned he asked me what connector was on the other end of the cable. I told him it was a coaxial connector to a coaxial connector. He said he found it. unfortunately, I received a cable with a pair of RCA connectors on one end and a 6 pin connector on the other end. This was already included with the DSP adapter. If you go to your link below it is on page 12 Connection diagram for DSP option. The cable is described as "connect to car coax connector." In the past, I believe the DSP adapter came with this cable. Apparently it doesn't anymore. I think in some cases, BMW only installs these on cars with both the DSP amplifier and a six CD changer. My car has the DSP amp but did not have the CD changer so aparently the cable was not installed. I tried to order it from my BMW deal but they say it is only sold with with a $815 CD changer I don't want. http://audiovox.diceelectronics.com/..._rev012312.pdf Does anyone know the part number for the cable by itself or another place I can find one? How much was the dsp kit? I didn't order the dsp kit, I bought an analog to digital converter off of amazon for $40 bucks and it had the RCA connectors on one end, and the coax on the other end. I would assume that bmw has a coax that would work as the older cd changers required it. I would look at real oem, like 97-99 5 series to see if you can find that coax, or send the dsp kit back and get a converter like I did.

Thanks for your reply. Real OEM doesn't show the cable, my dealer couldn't find it either... But GROM Audio to the rescue!
So Audiovox's customer service was very responsive and tried to help but their technical skills are not so great and they don't have and can't get the cable. Apparently they used to but not any more. Next I tried PhatNoise but they don't offer the cable separately. They stated that if you damage the cable the only option is to buy a new DSP kit. I finally found GROM Audio and ordered the cable for $10 + $2 shipping over a 2 minute chat session on their website. It arrived in a couple of days, I installed it last night and all is working well. THANK YOU GROM. If I had it to do all over again I would buy all their GROM-BT3: Bluetooth Hands Free and Audio Car Kit. Apparently, the coax cable is included free with purchase if you request it. These guys really know what they are doing technically and they really know how to treat a customer. It was clear by their responses to my inquiry. |
