Question about my 2001 X5's DSP System

Good morning,

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new iceLink Plus for my 2001 X5 with DSP and w/o NAV. I bought my vehicle through the certified pre-owned program and I suspect that it originally came with a CD changer that has since been removed. While inspecting the wiring and equipment in the rear driver's side, I came across a number of connectors that I'm curious about.

First of all, there is a coax input into the amp that has nothing attached to it:

There are also three bundles of wires that plug into the amp. In addition, there is a coax wire that is not presently connected to anything:

Should the coax be plugged into the amp? Does it not matter? I'm suspecting the latter since the system seems to work fine without this connection, but it has me curious as to what is supposed to plug into what.

Thanks for your help!

On the pre-2003 X5's with DSP that coax cable plugged into the 6 disk CD changer. Since you will be getting the Ice Link Plus system, that connection will not be needed.

Any idea what the connector on the amp is for? I'm really curious to plug it in "just to see what happens" but I don't want to fry anything, either.

Thank you for such a quick reply, and thank you for running this site. I have found a wealth of knowledge here, and the environment truly is friendly and inviting.

If you connect it, do so at your own risk. I'd recommend just leaving it alone.
