Adding new POIs to dvd map....
is there any chance to alter the bmw dvd map adding more point-of-interests (POI) like fixed speed cameras ( ) ? If so.. which files need to be changed ? Is there any existing POI file repository ? Is there any tool that convert the TomTom POI into navtech standard ? Thanks |

the manual says it is possible. i ask the nav to memorize vehicle's position, but after that i have to enter the address name, which includes country and so on. the problem is that i can only choose countries which are on the dvd. anyone?

this works, i did this last week in bosnia, where coverage of the map ended at the austrian border. This is also the adress given to this entry, but position is correct.
interesting thing btw.: when you navigate back from there, you do not have a route of coure, but a distance, which seems to be calculated by the direct distance to the nearest known point on the map. In my case quite accurate (+/- 50km on a 500 km Distance), the moment you enter the covered area, you also get the est. time of arrival again. Does anybody know, if there are navteq maps of slowenia, croatia and bosnia out ? I´ve seen an eastern europe version, which covered more than the european DVD (like Poland !) ?? Roman |

Thanx Nemis for this very interesting link.
Firstly it would be really helpful to have an answer on "tetoteto"s question: "uses the High version of the DVD different coordinates compared to the professional one?" Because all the findings in the e90post.com-posting can only applied 1 by 1, if the calculated coordinates match the real world. Hope some can help to answer the above stated question. Kindest regards, Matthias |
