I did not realize that the patch was this bad... is this for real?

Well, that is not impossible at all. There's flash memory chips in the nav unit. The software can write and read data from the flash. If the software corrupts the flash contents badly enough, the only possibility to recover is to change the chip to new one.

It seems that the beta is working badly, because there's a number of persons who has reported about the problems. I wouldn't update the beta into my nav.

Maybe it overheats the CPU and fries the chip? I think that is the only way that the whole unit would broke beyond (cheap) repair, if it just corrupts internal flash then the manufacturer should still be able to fix it.

I think I will first downgrade to V25 and then back to V26. Just in case since there are reports that the official V26 still has the 3D function build-in and enabled if you do just V26 downgrade.

Who knows, maybe this is just scare tactics from the tester. But I sure wouldn't like to buy another navi computer because of this.

That could be a possibility... I'm running Perspective with the V26 release, so it seems that I should de-select it just in case.

If it is broke, it's broke; that 60% chance is not a joke. Could have been a nice upgrade, though...

This thread has made me paranoid and I reloaded the v26 software that I had which was a beta version that I had downloaded from link here. I wasn't having problems with patch and wanted v26 back. One thing I notice is I am still in yards instead of feet. Does that mean I am still in European mode and going back to v26 left me still in European mode?

Thanks for any thoughts.

because of these paranoid statements i checked my navy now over many kilometers. the cpu-temperature was on 25km never over 52°C. I checked with a range of 50km in perspective(Birdview)-Mode (displaying changes very slow, CPU is working hard) and the DVD-player is only running, when a new target was defined.

i will keep V26.09 an have no concerns about my hardware.
