just want to let you guys know that the Nav Software crashed my nav computer. it worked for the first day but the next day, the V26t90 whatever screen just stayed on the screen and wouldn't go away.

I pulled the fuses and restarted the car and it worked the first time but later in the day, the same thing happened and it never recovered, I pulled the fuses and everything.

I just downgraded back down to V26 and i still have the birdview and i got the BMW logo back suprisingly. BUT, i heard if you ever try to switch to the old view that looks straight down, the perspective function will disappear. won't be doing that anytime soon but I'm surprised more people haven't aren't having the same problem.

That's what "Chaplin" in a German BMW forum says.
"Ich weiß sehr genau wovon ich rede!
Die Testversion 26.09 wurde sofort vom Hersteller wieder eingezogen, weil sich gravierende Unverträglichkeiten bezüglich der bestehenden Hardware und deren verschiedenen Entwicklungsstände gezeigt haben.
Scheinbar haben unsere Freunde aus den USA gerade diesen Build aus irgendeiner Tonne geholt."

I'll try to translate:
I know what I'm talking about!
The test version 26.09 was drawn back from the manufacturer because of serious incompatibilities concerning the existing hardware and their different stages of development.
It seems that our friends in the US caught exactly this build out of the bin."

Yes, but "Chaplin" also mentioned that the hardware of about 60% of the installed MK4´s was completely broken after the installation of this beta version. On the other hand he has the birdview installed, but who knows which version

Firstly I'd like to say thanks to X5 world for the opportunity to at least trial this patch. The Perspective mode does look good and aids the navigation experience.

However, from my experience I think it would be worthwhile setting up a thread to feedback crashes/bugs/issues.

I have a 2004 X5 Comms Pack and experienced the following:

- Install went fine. BT and all menu options still available and working.
- On a recalc while in NAV mode the system reset itself back to the T26 logo. It then sat there with no monitor options available i.e. the screen was unresponsive but radio still worked, etc. Powering off the car and back on had no effect - still at the logo. After about 5 minutes driving the system restarted again, back to the logo then back to a normal screen with full functionality. I haven't used it since but I expect it will re-occur.

I don't want to negate the positive vibes this beta non-release has generated, but I hope that anyone reading this thinks twice before upgrading. This patch hasn't been via the formal BMW release management process and it is unknown what damage you may do to your system. While there almost certainly won't be a hardware issue, some users may end up having to pay the dealers to get a stable version back on.

If we're collecting issues with V26.09a, here's one (actually two)

Background: I had V26 loaded & working fine. I then loaded V26.09a directly on top of V26. The issues I've seen (& others, also) are:
1) the SELECT button doesn't work
2) the INFO button also doesn't work
Other than that, I've been enjoying this new birds eye view, and I'm hoping the wizards will be able to either hack back the "==BMW==" splash screen, or something even better!
Not complaining, just noting things.

I've gone back to V26, kept the perspective view and noticed a change. The ETA calculation algorithm seems to work differently. It now calculates the ETA based upon current driving conditions.

For instance before if you had an ETA of say 17:20 at journey start and had a 10 minute delay it would simply update the time to 17:30 as the delay increments. It would not update dynamically based upon the current speed.

Now it seems to update the ETA very regularly based on current driving conditions, I had the ETA fluctuate by up to 30 minutes based on traffic conditions. I think I actually prefer it working this way!

It seems that there are some settings which are kept after a firmware upgrade e.g. Map view selected (perspective), ETA calculations, address book, other user settings, etc. I wonder what else is set 'under the hood' as part of the v26.09T patch that does not have a menu option to unset in V26? I personally would like to enable the TMC Route preference - Dynamic Route, which is part of V26 but no menu option is presented on older versions of the Mark IV VDO systems!

I think the smart move would be to actually enable Perspective mode in the V26 released version

I think that the best move is to wait until an official solution -if any- is found by BMW... in my opinion, Perspective, and the processing power required in this mode, is not handled very well by the processing capability of the current MKIV computer.

It is just too unstable overall...
