Thank you! I'll give it a shot tomorrow

One thing that wasn't clear from this thread is whether or not the dealer will upgrade my map from 2004-2 to 2006-2 @ no charge?

If you are referring to the navigational disk and not the OS then the answer most likely is no.

Problem with Nav-TV?

Hi guys - visiting from the M3 board. Thanks so much for posting this update. I am about to try it, but it I have Nav-TV and it has just occured to me that if I upgrade to v 27, my computer might "lose" my Nav TV. Has anyone with Nav-TV tried this?

cheers

JD

You won't lose Nav-TV.

After upgrading to V27, icons for gas stations etc are much larger and in blocks with white background. Has anyone noticed this? Must be a bug I think. anyone experienced this and got a solution?

Hi guys,
I upgraded to v27 few days ago, everything went soomthly. However, I have a problem. Every time I start my car, I have to go to the hidden menu to turn on the perspective and then I can activate it. Otherwise, I won't see the option "Perspecitve". Is this normal? Or I did something wrong. Thank you

P.S. This is a great site just like E46fanatics

Is anyone else finding the perspective mode completely useless? Only major hwys are listed as well as some landmarks. This makes it useless for every day driving in the city. Or is there some feature I need to turn on that will turn on city street names?

Disaster

So, I tried to upload to v.27 to the MKIV in my M3. Inserted the disk, and the relevant screen appeared saying "updating, will take 6 minutes etc." Then I got a message saying there was an error, please remove disk and select OK. The disk was ejected but then the screen went completely blank. Left the car on for 20 minutes - nothing. Restarted the car and got the weird looking brown screens that Gazza got (although I don't seem to have the one normal looking screen in his last pic...)

I made another disk, inserted. Took 30 seconds but then initiated the update procedure. But then got the error message again.

I guess I will have to try a new download. And then a new burn. I know Gazza downgraded to v.26, but in my case I am upgrading from 21.1 so...

E39 Mk IV NAV, upgraded to V26 some months ago no problem but when I upgraded to V27 (straight from V26 - no beta's) it hung before the 'remove CD & reboot' message and I had to switch off and then got this....

3D buttons, 6 country options, 4 colour modes for day and 4 for night - switches between when I turn the lights on - new graphics.....

Same thing here It seems that I crashed my MKIV. I tried to load an older version of the nav software (V26, V24) but the MKIV does not boot from that CDs ... has anyone tipps for me how to fix this?

@tom, @jjd

The brown screen you see is from the TV module. It looks like the update to your NAV unit did not work so the TV module has taken over as the bootup OS. Hence the brown screen. I'd make sure that when you burn a new copy of the update, make sure you use the slowest burn setting within Alcohol120% and also the media is of some reasonable quality (ie maxwell, tdk, etc...)

Ensure that you downgrade with the steps mentioned above and then follow same steps to upgrade.
