Idiot's Guide to a new voice and splash

Visiting from M5Board and love this site!

Despite myself, I upgraded my '03 M5 w/ MKIV to v27 and it works perfectly!

Now however, I'm interested in British voice and large ///M splash and have a few questions. I'm sorry to ask newbie questions that I'm sure are answered somewhere in this thread but honestly I'm lost.
1) British voice: exactly what files do i need to edit, what edits need to be made and how do i make them (what program)?
2) Splash: I'd like the large ///M that I saw in one of the posts but don't have any idea how to get it into the NAV. Can you walk me through the process step by step?
3) Assuming I accomplish both of these, do I simply reburn a CD and upgrade again? Or do i need to downgrade to v26 first then upgrade with modified v27?
4) If I have to downgrade, what exactly will get changed, e.g., no warning screen, what else changes, e.g., distances? Can I change it back to miles/feet or will i be stuck with it in the european v?

Many thanks for all you help!

1. See info on this topic in this thread - http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...-software.html

2. Let me know which one you are interest in:

or

You burn the disk and load it the same way you made your V27 disk.

3. You would need to downgrade back to V26 and then reupdate to V27. If you just insert the V27 disk the system will tell you that your system is already up to date and spit the disk out.

4. Downgrading will cause you to lose the accept screen and you system will be in feet rather then yards. Only the dealer can recode the unit to put it back into USA mode (accept screen and feet).

Thanks, i'll read through the thread you sent tonight. I'm interested in the second of the two splashes (the large ///M without the BMW).

What about the AUX vent? I've read some posts suggesting I might lose it?

Seemed to be more of an issue for those that went to the V26.09 beta. See http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...6-09-beta.html for info.

If you plan to do the language change then you can do the splash screen change at the same time to create your own custom V27 update disk. If you are willing to forgo the language change, I can send you a link to a V27 with the custom splash screen.

That'd be great if it's already done - i don't really need the language, just wanted to try it out. Please send the link if you've got it! Thanks!

I booked my car in to be coded and V27 put on (as they have the disk now) to fix the euro issue and the dealer said that BMW said not to use the V27 now as they have encountered some faults and an update to this version will be approx 1 month away.

Any one else heard this?

Have recently enjoyed reading through your brilliant forum, and finally registered myself.
About to upgrade my M3 MKIV from v26 to v27 and would LOVE the ///M startup logo. Could you send me a link how to do the necessary changes on the V27 disc to get that? Or what is required to get to that?

hello

I recently upgraded my mk4 to v.27.
I have a problem: I noticed that my navi needs now a lot of time to know the car position and sometimes it blocks
with v.26 I never had problems.
Noone had problems with v.27 ?
Thanks all!

Quick question, I want to upgrade my OS to V27 as well, so may as well have my own custom splash as well Anyone know what font the ///M is? Or have a PSD or original they could send me over so I can create my own?!?!

thanks in advance and keep up the excellent work

After a long dowload [V27] I've done it customised start up screen and all. I've included the pic I used in this post so others can use it if you like it.

Thanks for all your hard work, this is what it's all about
