V27 Mod verification

Ok before I go stick the CD in my new 2006 M3, I wanted to confirm with you folks a couple things.

I followed all the instructions to swap the splashscreen. I burned the new CD and i did a quick check.

If i used gifextractor and browse to the default v27 cd, i see the default bmw splash screen logo in the navboot file.

When i use gifextractor and browse my modified v27 cd, I DO NOT see my new logo unless i check the box that says "read modified gifs".

Is it ok to use my modified CD. Hoping folks that already did the upgrade will know the answer.

Oh and i have V26 right now and i want this to work the first time so i dont have to downgrade and worry about recoding and all that mess.

if this works, then i will upgrade my wifes 2005 330i which is running v25 right now.

That doesn't sound right to me. When you pull your modified navboot file up in the gifextractor program and click the "Extract" button you should see the new splash screen image as the 4th item down on the list. If not, I think you may have a problem.

ok, back to the drawing board then.

I simply copied one of the files from another member that i liked. The gifextractor program didnt let me swap until i checked that box. I will try to resize it and see if that works out better.

Thanks for the feedback. Just curious if you can copy one of the files and see if gifextractor sees the file right away w/out checking the read complicated gif box

I don't know what the theoretical upper limit is. I made one with a 52KB image and it worked fine.

This image worked fine for me as is:
