But I noticed something else too - which may or may not be related to v27, or to the resetting of the country-coding off of US... Now when I start the car and the nav boots-up, I see the "TELEPHONE" menu, with "Please wait... " in the middle of the black screen, and a red "Emergency" button and phone icon button at the bottom of the screen. The only way out of the screen is to hit the Menu button, after which everything seems to be normal. I seem to remember seeing this screen a few times before... usually when the nav was guiding me somewhere, and I make a stop and turn off the car, I think this same "TELEPHONE" screen would come up upon restarting the car. But now it seems to come up EVERY time the car starts... Any thoughts on why this is happening, or how to get rid of it? Here are two shots of the screen - the first showing the missing "Aux" function from the menu, and the second showing the "TELEPHONE" menu that comes up when the car is started. (Sorry for the crappy camera phone pics!) Last edited by DinanX5; 03-27-2006 at 01:32 PM. |

I had a similar problem with the Aux Vent option disappearing and was told by one of the other members to disconnect the battery for a few seconds (20-30)or remove the fuses (battery seemed easier to me) and the option would re-appear. Well it turns out that he was right, even after recoding the nav, the Aux Vent option was missing, so I disconnected the battery for about 30 seconds, and voila!!! The Aux Vent is back!!!
As far as the other problem I have no idea???

Thanks for the tip. Any issues from disco'ing the battery?
So no one ever had the TELEPHONE-screen-at-start-up issue as a result of non-US coding? (Not even at restart if Nav guidance was interupted??) |

I have the same issue.
I upgraded to V27 a week or so ago and went well for several days. However, over the past few days, I've had the phone screen come up as you describe, plus the red indicator is lit, which indicates that the Assist module is unable to pick up a signal.
I've not been to the dealer yet, but I think (read: "hope") that the timing is coincidental and that the real culprit is the Assist/BT module. I have had that replaced once already and wouldn't be surprised if it needs it again. In my case, often-times, the main telephone screen would come up after starting the vehicle, regardless of which mode was up when I shut the vehicle off. I seem to recall another post on this board describing that the latest Assist/BT module corrects that problem and who knows, maybe it will work better with my Treo 700w. I plan on taking it in to the dealer over the next few days and will post back here afterwards. |

My red indicator has been lit for some time now as well... I have an appt. at the dealer sched. for this Friday, so I'll make sure to "suggest" that they check/replace the BT/Assist module. (and maybe they'll just overlook that the nav is in non-US coded mode... )
