I heard this rumour about postcode (zip) search being available but surely this would need both the postcode info on the map disk and a software change to give the option to input a postcode in the destination input?

Any ideas?

BUG MK4 in NICE (france)

Hi,

I have a problem with my HS MK4 with firmware v27.1 and europe map 2006-2 (navtech).

If search any information (es. bmw service or restaurant) of Nice France, the mk4 don't make correct guide.

If i put the turistic information required (es. bmw service in nice) as a destination the navigation system is not able to calculate the route, i can only see the old route.

This problem is only for Nice, other city working well.
I tested many maps, 2006-1 / 2005-2 / 2005-1

Please help.

Hi Gazza,

I am somewhat the wiser now! I have installed v27 software now which works well - they have improved the graphics of the maps, enabled postcode (with compatible DVDs) , and of course enabled the perspective view - which is great.

I received a map disk as well which, despite allowing postcode searches, actually contains older map data than I had previously (2005.2 I think). The new one doesn't even show my road which has been there for more than 3 years!!!

Am trying to work out which map disk I need to get postcode and up to date maps. Will keep you posted!

Does this fix the bug from V27 where only the closest large town is displayed in the right pane as noted in the below thread?

Hi everyone,

Just burned the cd for the 27.1 os and I just want to make sure that it's only one file that I need to burn. In the folder, it shows 2 files, one .mdf which is 288mb and the other is .mds and is 1kb. I only burned the 288mb .mdf one and not the .mds one because the .mds file didn't show up initially until I selected all files, and alcohol 120% only let me open one file. Thanks.

EDIT: Just installed the 27.1 OS and it works beautifully! the satellite acquisition is amazingly accurate! The map turns almost instantaniously when I turn, unlike the previous OS I had (which ever one that came with the 2005s). Thanks.

I installed version 27.1 last night and used it a lot today.... It replaced a very early version of the software - it was last updated in 2003!

Everything is much better looking, but I can't work out how to put it into "map mode", without it giving me directions to somewhere. In the previous version, I could select "end destination" (or whatever the option is) and then select "maps".

However, in version 27.1, "end destination" works fine, and takes you to the address input screen - and it seems to stay there - not very nice to look at. If I select "maps" mode, it starts to give me directions to the last destination input, which is not what I want it to do.

Has anyone worked out how to show the map on the screen, but without it trying to give directions to anywhere?

Many thanks,
DarrenW.
