Pls Help A Navi Newbie (problems with disk)

Hi Everyone,

I'm actually an E39 M5 (2001) guy who was referred to this board for help with my navigation conversion. I purchased a MKIV unit to upgrade my MKIII and the install seemed to go fine. However, I updated the software (great info on this board BTW) and that worked but the computer will not read the map disk from Navteq -- just says "incorrect cd/dvd"

Background info -- the unit is a 2006 production unit (had V26 loaded) and I am using the greenish colored disk for it. I did go into the service menu and it looks like the telemetrics hints that it was installed (or built for) an X3 --- is this causing the problem? I did read a post that stated that the X5 uses the blue disk instead b/c it's an ibus system -- is it possible that i would need the blue disk for this unit to work? If so, do you know of problems interfacing with the E39?

Also, is it possible to clear that info and input the info for my car? Can I change it to US mode from Euro mode?

Sorry for all the questions -- I'm just lost trying to figure this out and it seems like there are a lot of experts here who may be able to help...

Thanks in advance
jay

Because I have a bootleg map disc, I'm not sure about the green vs. blue of it all. I do know that once you're in Euro mode, dealer has to put you back in US mode, unless I missed someone figuring out how to do it.

Bump for someone else to chime in to help out.

I'm pretty sure you need the blue colored dvd for North America w/an '06 unit. I use a back-up copy of my 2006-2 disc in my nav. and it works just fine.

You need a blue DVD map for your MK4.

The green one is for the current 5 and 7s, E60 and E66, not the same as a MK4 in your e39.
