Anyone know the difference between the High and Professional DVD?

Saw a copy of the World cup Special Edition Europe High on E Bay, he wanted 180 quid...... BMW retail them at 154 Quid!!!!!!

Professional is for the newer MOST bus cars, E60, E90 etc. The disk has a different format so High DVD's will not work in newer cars, Professional will not work in the older ones.

Thanks for that Richard. I assume that relates to IDrive etc as well?

Mine is the MarkIV DVD in a 2006 X with Navteq 27. Will both work, do you know?

And do you know if there is an actual difference in what you get in terms of info, points of interest etc.

E60, E90 etc have iDrive and need the Professional DVD, older cars without iDrive (Mk IV Computer) require the High DVD. You need the High version. Any car which requires one type will not work with the other. The content of the disk is pretty much the same as far as I know.

Thanks for the answer. I'm on the verge of buying new DVD Europe High 2006-2. I wonder if it is true that 2007-1 will include Eastern Europe in which I'm interested as well. Any news on that? I called Navtech but that explained that I would have to ask BMW because they just provide raw data to manufacturers and they then tailor the data to their needs. Navtech said that they already have major roads all over Eastern Europe covvered. By the way, has anybody got DVD Europe High 2006-2 for sale?

I'd be surprised if there is enough free space on the disk for all the roads and POI in Eastern Europe as well as the stuff that’s there already. There are three possibilities :

1) They go to a dual layer DVD, if the Mk IV supports dual layer.
2) They reduce the amount of information in the areas already covered, fewer POI, fewer languages or whatever. I think this is unlikely.
3) They have 2 DVD's one with more detail for the West, one with more detail for the East.

I am testing now this map for Eastern Europe (Teleatlas):

http://www.navshop.com/en/product/po...yton/5885/18/1

I've heard this map is going to be the basis for the next BMW maps in Eastern Europe (2007-1).
