You can leave the perspective view selection always checked in the service menu. That just enables the menu selection from the map view.

To change from perpspective view to one of the other views, go to your map view. Then, push the navigation knob to pull-up the sub-menu. Select the menu item like "map view" (I can not remember the exact name). From there, you sould get a deeper sub menu with selections like "Direction of Travel," "Pointing North," and "Perspective." Just select the direction of travel or pointing north options to get back to the 2-D flat map.

what exactly does "perspective" look like....I selected it in our options list...but it looks the same as it did when we first turned on the system.

Is perspective what appears to be "birds eye", from above? It's not 3D....

I've seen flat described as 2D...what i'm referring to is also 2D.

does anybody have screen shots of the various views?

This is an earlier beta release, but this post shows what the perspective view looks like.

Simple. Go to your Main Menu (with the Navigation selection on it) by hitting the Menu button once, then select Settings, then, hold down the Menu button for 8 seconds or so, and that will put you in the Settings Menu. From there, scroll down to the next page by scrolling all the way down, past the last item show. The next page should display & you should be able to select Perspective from that page.

No, it doesn't show road names nearly to the extent that the "flat" map does. If you go down to the lowest scale then you do see some names.
