anyway did anyone ever manage to get the 'generic' vdo software to run on a MK4 computer?
no, but what would be the point? the last mk4 software is rich in features.

Thee is heaps of things 'missing' that would be nice in on our BMW MK4 navigation units:
  • multiple POIs displayed at all times
  • auto day/night colour schemes (based on headlight status)
  • fresh new interface
  • possible Australian TMC service?
  • possibly more... trying to find a MS5000 manual in English for the last software
  • current street displayed while in Full Screen view
  • street names displayed in perspective mode
Anyway just some thoughts....
Has anyone actually been able to 'hack' the OS of the BMW nav?
there are so many bits of text that get cut off and don't scroll. would be great if they scrolled, even just once.
Also would love to get the suburb names back for Split Screen, or have the suburbs displayed on the map instead of useless parks, etc....

MK3 Color Sets

Hello all,

After exhaustive searching, I now understand through trial and error that the MK3 cannot have colors edited, yet there are some alternate color sets out there. How was this done? Is it possible to extract "rom-col-x" file from navboot (MK4) and then save into usw_load for MK3?

I am trying desperately to get a monochrome orange look to my board monitor. any help is appreciated. This forum is awesome.
