What DVD-R to make a backup of DVD High?

I have burned a backup DVD of the DVD Europe High 06-2 incl. UK speedcams on Sony 8X DVD-R at 2speed, NO problem.

Since it was my last Sony, I've burned another one on Verbatim 16X DVD-R, also at 2speed, disk can NOT be read in MK4.

Are there any suggestions what sort/make of DVD-R are suitable for backup?

After several burned DVD's, due to another issue (*1), I've sucessfully recorded the DVD High (X3) in a DVD-R Memorex, as well as DVD-RW from TDK.

*1: that fxxx DVD is recorded as ISO-9660, but not as Jouliet. Toast for Mac tells me that ISO is not a valid format for DVD's. I've burned a lot of DVD's until I went back to a windows machine and replicated step by step the intructions from our Spanish friend.

I just use some cheapo no branded DVD-R. You know, those disc which have nothing one it. I got them for 10 cents each long time ago. I just use my 4 year old sony DVD burner to burn a 2006-2 disc @ 1X speed. it works fine.

I use Verbatim, but find that they ONLY work if you burn them at FULL SPEED (16x)! Fine by me as it takes less time to burn, but why they don't work at any slower speed I don't know!
