Australian DVD Maps

I have a 2003 Z4 so I suspect my Aussie maps are pretty outdated...anyone know where I can download more recent maps? I saw links to US Maps on this forum but nothing for Aussies.

Thanks.

I'm with you Zeus..... mine has a 2004 DVD most times it looks like I'm driving through paddocks as I'm in a new estate (2 years old) the newer roads don't appear.

The DVD has UBD logo listed on it I rang them, they had no idea what I was talking about.

I kow what you mean Andy..The 2003 Maps are even worse (as technically based on 2002 or 2001 data) so lots of new estates are missing.

Surely there must be an Aussie Member on the board with a 2006 or 2005 DVD that can help us out? Anyone? I would be happy to host it.

I have last years map disc but it won't help much. It's so out of date I have the same problem of "driving through paddocks". The roads are changing so fast they are out of date before they are released. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, they may give you a "copy" of a newer version. I plan to try soon when I find out there is a 2006/2007 version released. If you are really desperate, you will have to go to the dealer and buy the latest copy. Last time I checked they were between $200-$300.

I've got the current map (V12), it's a CD not a DVD, though. Still pretty cr@ppy after using a Toyota DVD based SatNav for the past three years, and Sensis are fairly hopeless at getting the roads up to date. Come to that, they're pretty hopeless at getting the roads where they're supposed to be!

I bought my update just before winter, if anyone can/needs to copy it, PM me: I'm in Melbourne.

Version 13 is just around the corner according to Whereis - that means BMW will have their version very soon.

According to Sensis website v13 should be coming in November (although has been delayed monthly since June!). It's already available in a number of handheld PDAs (eg Tom tom) and it seems there are still errors and omissions galore as per Sensis style.

Have any Aussie users played with the idea of adding the Speed Camera locations onto their maps? I noticed the UK guys have done this and there is even a site that explains how to (including Videos of how to!!):
http://poi.ravestation.net/mkiv/index.html

And the aussie Camera locations (along with lots of other POI) can be found here:
www.ozpoi.com

I believe the files on above website can be converted to something compatible for BMWs with POIConverter.

Anyone given it a go? I'd try but I'm a very pressed for time at the moment.

If anyone can help me with version 12, I would be very appreciative!

Thumbs up

Thanks to another member on this forum, I now have a copy of version 12 of the Australian Map CD. It still doesn't have some of the newer estates in Melbourne, but must surely have more updated street data than version 10. It's compatible with MKIII units but not MKIV as this is not a DVD disc.

Just as a side note, does anyone know how to get the Nav unit to display what the version of the disk is? I can't find any information on the files within the disk itself to say what version it is.

If anybody with MKIII wants a copy of this, I'm trying to find a decent site that will host this file.

Theres a file on the disk that has the version number in it. Its not 100% readable but its definately there.

The only real difference i see between version 10 and 12 is more points of interests.
