No my TM button does nothing.

I do have an active TMC sat nav disc.

I had assumed the TM button didnt work because I hadnt subscribed.

I do have the TV module with the blue and white plugs going into the back of my Navi Monitor.

I haven't found the other end yet but will look as soon as I can.

My Mk IV Sat Nav, telephone blue tooth, cd changer, dvd player, remote headphones sender and freeview box are all in the rear left hand side stowage box. So it is pretty crowded in there!
Yeap....thats very crowded......what type of freeview box do you have in there??

that may not be the GPS....as the GPS is built into the MK4 DVD drive....there should be a external GPS antenna which is usually mounted in the parcel shelf in the e39. So that may be your TM unit!

I think the harness that goes to the front of the car is a single harness and all the splicing and connections are done in the boot....

I havent completey disconnected the TM unit yet.....just the blue plug (the video feed).....i havent had the time...plus i was also pondering of some way to use the TM button in the front to interact with my Carputer which i am in the process of installing in the boot!!!

try pressinfg the TM button at the front....does it switch on the traffic master module??....if not.....(this is what was happening to me...)....then it make well be the TM as TM should work even if you havent subscribed to it!

the TM module is located in the boot, mine was above my MK4 DVD satnav drive...but some also mount it behind the CD changer.

do you have a TV module (it has a blue plug and a white plug and a FME atanae cable) ??....if so then trace the blue plug cable and it should connect to another blue plug which has two blue plugs.....one if which is connected to the TM module. So you will need to unplug the blue plug that is going to the TM and then unplug the blue plug that is going in to the TV module and plug that in to where the TM module was plugged in to.

Hope that makes some sense.......Im in Paris on business as the moment... and therefore i cannot take any photos......

I hope your problem should be just as easy!!!

let me know if you need any further info.....
Hi - got too dark too quickly tonight to find the TM in the boot but my replacemnt Navi Monitor arrive - long story - its the wrong one should be for an E38 or E39.

Tried it briefly and guess what - it too binked every 9 seconds so I am now pretty convinced you are right with the TM therory.

I took the TM button out and found it had 2 plugs behind, a white one and an unplugged blue one. Any idea what the blue one is for? Just need to find the other end now!

Also solved my magic eye fault on the freeview today - wasnt the box or the remote - it was the magic eye all along. Very patient seller.
