Hi Richard

Do you happen to know the standard telephone numbers for SMSC, SMS and Customer Services from the UK? I'd like to see if I can get Assist to work

Thanks
David

No, sorry, I don't have Assist or know the numbers. I thought you needed a different phone module for them to work.

Do you not have to subscribe to BMW Assist?

Good to see the software worked for you :-)

Cheers, Jochen

Just a few simple questions:
- What is Dynamic Routing?
- Is an Hex sequence known for implementng TV while in motion?
- Could Off Road Navigation be activated in an E46?
Thanks

Dynamic Routing = automatic re-reouting to you destination to avoid traffic problems. Requires a functioning TMC service, and a nav system that supports TMC. TMC is implemented in various ways in various countries, some it is free, and in some you have to pay extra for the tMC-enabled map disc.

Hex sequence for TV in motion = not known to me. Wish I knew it :-)

Off-Road could potentially be activated in an E46, if you knew what command to tell the nav system. More research required :-)

Jochen

True Dynamic routing is only available if you have a new BM54 radio (September 2005 or later). It allows a new route to be calculated arround a delay (from the TMC system) without any interaction. Previous generations of radio required you to request a new route to be calculated.

I'd say that there is a 99% probability that there isn't one. On some older TV modules for E38 and some E39 you can enable TV in motion with some combination of TV controls but with the new ones it's not possible.

As far as I know (according to some information from Siemens VDO) the off road navigation is only available if you use the MK III software for the Range Rover. The feature was never implemented on the MK IV or for the 'split screen' versions of the software (after V17.1).

Thanks KiwiJochen, RichardP1 for your answers.

I now understand Dynamic Routing. I have got TMC and TP working in my July 03 MkIV and from time to time I am asked whether I would like to re-route around heavy traffic areas, just as you said. I hardly ever accept the offer though. I don’t know whether I would be happy to be re-routed without my consent or without knowledge of the reasons why, of the extra distance or time involved.

I feel there must be a sequence for TV in motion: Some dealers in my country are known to be performing such a modification via their DIS system, some times for an extravagant price. I hear there is some obscure option in the DIS system menu that performs the task, although it would seem this is not very well known by all dealers. I guess monitoring the I-Bus while performing the task would provide the hex sequence. Any takers?

As for the Off Road Navigation option, what I was actually looking forward was the possibility to set a destination by means of latitude and longitude alone. No chance then, I guess.

Thanks

I have bought (paid a fortune )a device that sends this command to unlock TV via OBD.
I also have the I-Bus interface, so if someone can guide me through this...I can read the code and tell it to you all.
