MK4 Navi system schematic diagram needed

Greetings from a new family member!
Is there any possibility to get a schemaic diagram of the MK4 Navi System?
The story is- I have an X5 BMW, which I really love. Besides that beauty I run a Russian made GAZ 24, born 1983. The latter is a hell of a car, though it lacks several handy things. Among them is a navigation section. I obtained an extra MK4 Navi system on E-Bay, along with that DVD module and endless wires. The question is - where can I get the diagram of all those lovely outlets and sockets that live on the back side of the unit? To make them work and look good in an ancient car is not a big deal - the question is - what goes where? I am not in the mood of burning something down like Han Solo did to his Millenium Falcon. As you remember she (the ship) could not go hyperdrive after that.
Any hint is really welcome.
Thanks a lot

I don't think you need to know how the MK IV is wired internally - you just want to know what connectors go where...

If you do a search on eBay or your favorite file-sharing sites for "BMW WDS" you'll find a DVD which has the schematic diagrams for most recent BMW models. It also lists the pin assignments of each connector in the car, and what color the wires are.

This should be enough to get you to the point where the MK IV and display will power up. Be advised, however, that the navigation system talks to many other components in the car (including some that would surprise you, like the seat memory). You may not be able to get full functionality without something like a PC which will respond to (and generate) signals to the NAV computer.

Terry is correct. The MkIV will expect to send/receive signals from the vehicle via the i-Bus. A 1983 vehicle certainly won't have this, so the odds of your being able to get this to work properly are not good. In my opinion I think you'd be much better off getting some form of aftermarker Nav system.

It can be done. The only thing that you have to do is install an instrument cluster with IKE in the vehicle (trunk?) and suply it with power. The IKE acts as a gateway for the different bus systems.

Thanks a lot!

Dear gentlemen,
thanks a lot for promt replies!
The info was pretty handy and I did find some additional info on the Web. Besides I ordered that WDS Cd on E-bay. You right, some features will not work on my '83 oldie without the interface, something like seat memo and so, but that is OK. The main idea is just to fire the unit up. Once it is fired I am sure that GPS will work by all means. The problem is that wiring harness lacks a couple of plugs, including, as I thing, the one that goes into power outlet. Actually it is not a big trouble - it only needs more time to make it work. Anyway, thanks a lot for your hints. Once I bring it to life I will inform you about the results. Thanks a lot.
