X5 and problem with MKIII 3 1/63 no more GPS....

Hello,
Many thanks for your explanations and recommendations.
Now, I succeed to load the V23 version (from CCD files) and now my screen is back to the original within the GPS function.

My problem is that after rebooting, I inserted the GPS CDROM and as result I got ""NO CD Found in the reader.....""

I went to a BMW store and they said that it is certainly the Calculator which is dead and cost around 1 500 Euros (expensive!!).

I would like if anyone can help me to find out another solution less expensive and much more efficient. May be I need to upgrade to a new version????

Thanks in advance and Regards

Check what software version you have loaded. Do you have v3/1-63?
If so, good.
If not, first ensure the nav computer is loaded with v3/1-63

Then check the GPS map disc.
Make sure the disk is OK- insert it in a PC and make sure you can see the file "carindb"

Remember, the Mk3 can only read CDs, it cannot read DVDs. So you must use a map CD, not a map DVD.

Then make sure the map CD is OK by using it in another BMW - go to a car seller, and just ask to try the CD in another car.

If you were able to load the operating system software OK then the laser and CD mechanism must be OK.
It is likely that the map disc is faulty (scratched?).

Still GPS problems need change the Calculator???

Hello,

Thanks for your reply, I tested the Map CD and indeed I have the CARINDB file. I tested this one to an other GPS car and it's works.

Now, I have the following:
When the MAP CD is inserted, I have TMC in RED and message NO DISK inserted! And sometime the main Screen goes into REBOOT this happen very often.

Any idea what I can do before going to the reseller and accept to change the calculator??

Thanks in advance and Regards

TMC in red = your are not receiving TMC from a TMC station, OR your map disc does not support TMC
NO DISK = your disk cannot be read. You may have a faulty laser in your nav computer. Or your laser may be weak, or dirty. Have you tried an original BMW disc in your nav computer?

Hello,

Thanks for replying.

Well let me explain the situation just to be sure,

When I start my Car, sometimes I have TMC Green, some time RED. Mainly when it is RED the Screen (panel in the car) goes in a REBOOT, and before rebooting it may take a while...

I use only BMW Map Disk (CDROM) and I have three, one per year.

For Example, yesterday, I got Green TMC, then I set an itinerary start GPS working, then Screen goes in REBOOT and after that RED TMC for a while!!!

Do you think that I have to try an upgrade Software, may be V27, but where can I find it???

Or any others Ideas???

Thanks in advance.
