Interesting [frustrating] experience in trying to 'terminate guidance'

Relating to these posts:

http://www.xoutpost.com/158472-post54.html

I was playing with the navi system while driving, selected a destination for routing. Thereafter, I was unable to terminate guidance using "End Destination Guidance".

Nothing I did worked, including shutting off the car, removing the map DVD, and disconnecting the MKIV unit. When I go to the menu to "End Guidance", nothing happens. The system continues to try to reroute me back to the location I selected. I shut off the car, came back, the car was still trying to guide me.

I had to reflash the MK4 to get my Info/Select functions back. It was then, only then, when it stopped trying to guide me.

That was yesterday.

This morning, I tried to select another destination to see if I can "End Dest. Guidance". No joy. It continued to try to guide, along with voice prompts, even after repeated attempts to end guidance.

I re-selected "location" to U.S., and finally the voice and screen prompts would stop. But the white route line persists on the screen and the "Route List" continues to build, trying to get me back to the gas station. I stopped, turned off the car, and only to find everything still there when I turned the car back on.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

In my recent experience, if I select "End Guidance" and then select "Map", the white line to your most recent destination remains, but the voice prompts no longer try to tell you where to go.

Leaving the car switched off and locked for 15 minutes resets the guidance and removes the white line route.

I played with route magnet once for a few minutes, but I completely failed to understand what it meant. Can anyone explain this to someone who doesn't have a manual for this particular version of the software?

Sounds like you have found a SW bug. Try upgrading to the latest (v4/1-80) to see if this resolves the issue.
