problem with my Nav MK4, please help

Hello,

I try to be short with my question, I have a nav mk4 system with v28 on it.
it workt realy good until two day ago. no signal so the nav has lost his way.

i read a lot of troubles here in this forum and i have tried the next things.

disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, after that i switched te key in pos. 1 and wait 20 minutes, i lookt in the hidden menu.

the next things i saw.
1 I only had 2 S/N numbers >0 but not >2 so i thing this is to low.
sometimes i had no s/n numbers. the prn number where change-ing
2 Almanac is NO
3 Rec-sat: Recerr
4 Pos-src: 0
5 Pdop/Hdop/Vdop: 0.0/0.0/0.0
6 GPS status: Reception interfac
7 visible satalites: 8????

Can some one tell me what's going on??
what's the problem when your s/n numers are low?

I hope some of you can help me!!

Greeting Rimshot

Try new GPS antenna. Even a temporary one placed on your window ledge.

I still have the sam problem, but somtimes in the hidden menu under GPS tracking info I see that the prn numbers are switching and a max of 6 out of 8 satalites with S/N between 1.8 and 2.4.
So I thing the Nav found satalites but not very easy.

by the way the I don't have Almanac. Can someone tell me wath this meens?

Pleas help me if someone knows how.

I already checked my GPS antenne cable, this seem to be oke.

Greeting Rimshot.

For a GPS receiver to work properly, it must know the orbital data of the satellites, so it knows what satellite to expect and where and when

When the GPS leaves the factory, it has a basic orbital data set inside it

When the GPS is put into service, it downloads the almanac from the satellites, and then it has much more accurate knowledge of the satellite orbital data.

So onece the almanac is loaded, the GPS will be able to find and lock on to satellites quicker.

Without an almanac it will still work, but take longer to acquire the satellites.

If you read my story, do you think i have a problem with my antenna? or can it be something else also?

A new antenna wel cost me €90,- so to test it its a bit expensive.
and with the s/n numbers there is something of a connection with satalites.

Maybe. you should put your nav computer in another car with a known good nav system, then you would find out very quickly which part is faulty.

Lightbulb navigation inaccuracies.

I upgraded my operating system also to the new v28 recently and I myself noticed that while using the destination/navigation computer to reach an address the checkered flag was about a half a mile down the road when the voice said, "You've reached your destination" which I actually had arrived at the correct address, however the display clearly stated the white line still ahead of the arrow (my car) yet to arrive at the checkered flag. I have a feeling some type of calibration is necessary, perhaps removing and reapplying power may have the MK computer recalibrate upon powerup, I'm not sure and only assuming. Does anyone know more about this, perhaps have access to technical procedures for upgrading operating systems?

Thanks

The problem with my system was the antenne. When I put a new antenne on the roof of my mini everything was oke directly.

Thanks for the reactions, Greetings from Rimshot - Holland
