First thing to check is that there is a solid antenna connection on the back of the nav drive. Remove the 4 bolts that mount it into the rack and carefully pull it out and check the connection.

it looks good i think. how would i go about replacing the reciever where would i buy this part? i dont even know what it looks like

it's located under the rear spoiler. You would need to get one from the dealer. Check with Nick @ Morristown BMW (see our Parts forum)
