Unhappy I Need Help:( Os Upgrade

I currently have OS V17.1 3-1/31

And I want to upgrade to OS V27 3-1/63

I read on the X5 Nav info page that V27 is the highest version for MKIII

What my question is, can I jump from V17 to V27 with out installing all versions in between?

I have already downloaded new V27 version and burned to a cd but... I can find no information on the proper steps between version upgrades.

I really dont wnt to mess up my BMW 2001 X5 4.4i
PLEASE HELP!

I believe you can jump right to the latest version, but you'll likely need the KeyCD. The system will tell you if you need it as you are doing the update.

Yes you can, no problem

But you need to be aware of the following:

Check your OS CD is Mode2/Form1. The Mk3 boot load process cannot use a Mode1 CD (most commonly generated by CD copying programs)

Check your CD type carefully - use eg Nero infoTool

If CD is Mode1, throw it away! Do not use it.

And from v17, you may also need the Key CD - google for it

Well after about two weeks of research and studying and downloading and double checking the information and posting many threads and asking questions, I finally had the balls to try my os upgrade… WOW!! What a rush … It was so cool! I read all the threads and printed all the install info, made the disks even made the cd key disk, (That it did ask for by the way) had a couple of beers and WENT FOR IT! I went from an OS of 3-1/31 to 3-1/63 and OH MY GOD!! What a deference the colors better and brighter and the split screen options everything is so much better. I’m so happy I can’t stand it!

Thanks Jochen for all your help!

Until the next mod, take care

Sincerely

Paul S Schmidt
