I downloaded the NA 2007.2 image via Bittorrent, and successfully burned a DVD on my imac by just using the standard Disk Utility. Nothing additional was needed. It wouldn't mount on the desktop after I burned it, so just to play it safe I burned another from Windows XP using ImgBurn. That one would mount within XP, but still wasn't seen by MacOS. I compared the DVDs and they are identical.

They still wouldn't work with my Z4 which is running 29.1. I had the same issue as everyone else in that the DVD wasn't recognized. I took a closer look at the 2007.2 I downloaded versus the 2006.1 that came with my car and the file structures are completely different. I'm guessing the version of 2007.2 we are finding via BT are for the "Professional Nav" while our MKIV systems want the "High Nav"

Just curious about this process. You do know that all Nav DVD's are not created equal. For example we have an 2006 E-60 which has a Nav DVD which will not work in my 2005 X5. and visa versa. So i'm wondering if there are some problems with the download which may be vehicle specific.

I think that issue of not all Nav DVD's being equal exists even with the same vehicle model. If you look at navteq's website for the latest and greatest maps for the X5 you will notice there are three flavors of 2007.2. One that is cd based for older model years, and 2 that are dvd based. One for 2003-2006 which is the "High DVD Map", and one for 2007 models which is the "Professional DVD Map".

High DVD is the version for our non-iDrive cars (X3, X5, 3-Series E46, etc). The "Professional DVD" is the version for the iDrive cars. The CD is the version for the older MKIII navigation system, or for single coutries (like I said above, a CD fits a european country or a USA state).

In other words, if you have a X3/X5/etc with a MKIV, there's only one version you'd care - the USA/Europe DVD High.

there must be some way of doing this... i think it's intersting that Toast recognizes the ISO as a CD ROM XA file and won't let you burn it onto a DVD - i bet there is some trick in there... maybe it's burned with propriatary hardware to prevent piracy?

i just looked up iDrive - maybe the torrent file is for the Professional version....? we need someone with a new 2007 to try it.. though i imagine they'd already have the newest dvd .. doh..

maybe i'll try downloading 2007.1 -

i believe that 2007.2 torrent was for idrive (pro) only. thats why it doesnt work on our mkIV systems.
