Strange Problem / changing splash screen

As I changed my splash screen last week, i opened the ISO from the V29.1 with UltraISO and changed the navboot. I burned them, as I did so often and give the CD to the nav computer.

The screen went to the message "Update CD found... Please wait" (I don't know the message in english, but should be like this.) After that he reboot with the grey screen "Update... Up to 6 Minutes.. Blabla". And he felt into a kind of loop.

Ignition off and on - hit the eject button 50 times - keep him pressed.... Nothin helps. I disconnected the nav computer and connect him again. The Update Screen appears again on the Monitor with the same kind of loop. Read - do nothing - try to read - do nothing - try to read...

I damaged the slot as i tried to get the CD out. Now I need a new one (~ 620 $)

Ok. Damn, but that's life.
Later I found the reason for it:

The V29.1 image is "Mode2 Form1". After changing the Navboot and save it with Ultra ISO, it change to a "Mode1" Image.
Most of us know, the nav computer can't read mode 1 cd's. I never noticed it, because it always works.

WHY do Ultra ISO so unexpected make a Mode 1 ISO from a Mode 2? I changing splash screens since its possible, and I never saw Ultra ISO making a Mode 1 ISO. I've got my old (changed) ISO's. All of them are Mode 2 / Form 1.

Do anyone know a solution for it? I could'nt find any option for the Problem in UltraISO.

This is a known issue, I have highlighted it to many people many times.

The original BMW map CDs and software CDs are all Mode2/Form1.

I use ImgBurn all the time and ensure that I always burn error-free Mode2/Form1 CDs.

Especially on a Mk3 nav, the nav gets into an endless loop with a Mode1 CD and won't load the software.

The answer is: never use a Mode1 CD in a BMW nav :-)

Ok, good. But how do i change the spalsh screen AND burn a Mode 2 CD? As I told you: UltraISO change the Mode from 2 to 1 after saving.

I've got ImgBurn, too. But it just tell me "Mode1" and burn such one. How Do i Burn a Mode2 CD now?

Get a clean copy of the image, check in ImgBurn that it is Mode2.

I edit the image in MagicISO and click 'Save'. Image stays as Mode2.
If I click 'Save as' image is changed to Mode1

Verfiy image is still Mode2 in ImgBurn before you re-burn

Ok, thank you. I try to use MagicISO and ImgBurn now instead of Ultra ISO and Alcohol.

"Save" or "Save as..." doesn't make a difference in Ultra ISO. In each case it's a mode 1 image.

But I still don't know why it worked for me all the months before... Everything was fine.

Hm...

It's even better with magic iso. Thank you!

But I don't change the spash screen again. It's a expensive hobby if you do something wrong.
