Thanks for that comparison. It does confirm that I do have the correct MkIV at least!
I have had the following back from the seller....
Der Rechner ist voll funktionstüchtig und für Radionavi Codiert, kann aber Problemlos für Blidschirmnavis umcodiert werden!!!!
Which tranlates thro Google, as I don't speak German, to.......
The computer is fully functional and for Radionavi coded, can be converted however problem-free for Blidschirmnavis!!!!
Does this help....hinder.....of no use whatsoever?

The light does indeed flash/go steady as you said, & there is BMWM01S printed on one of the labels on the unit..... so monochrome display?
From what you were saying, re-coding would solve the problem. I have downloaded your Navcoder v2.0.21 but what else will I need to get? I assume a Resler I-BUS interface will be needed? If so will I need any other cable & do you have any idea where the connector is in the car?
I really do appreciate your help in this. Thank you.

The symptoms, the label, and the german text from the seller all confirm, without any doubt whatsoever, that your nav is coded for a mono screen - also known as the radio-navi.

There is nothing wrong with the unit, it is simply configured for a different display.
It needs to be re-programmed as I mentioned.

To re-program you will need:
NavCoder
OS disk
ibus interface (build one or buy a Resler interface)
laptop
instruction from me

or of course you can pay a dealer to do it for you - although I recall you had a rover, so unsure as to what will happen.

I'm relieved that the unit is ok, now the re-coding:

The required "shopping list"....

NavCoder...... I have already downloaded.
OS Disk .........Any particular version, or just the most recent?
ibus interface..I'll order a Resler one today. Any other cable needed?
Laptop...........Yep
Instruction...... Always willing to listen & learn!

You'll need to load a newer version of the OS compare to what's currently fitted.

NavCoder will tell you the current version (but you cannot see that yet!).

So get the Resler interface, and you may want to make a cable. I use clip leads and clip onto the loom connector that sits beside the CD changer / amplifier in my E39. Your's will be a bit different, as you have a Euro E39. Mine is a Japan E39 - my nav is mounted differently.

Let's carry on off-line - I'll email you

Hey Riggers, I can help you with the recoding! I have all the necessary items and a working Mk4 in my Range Rover so just a case of meeting up sometime .... Arundel - Salisbury????

Tricky bit is to hook into the ibus on the RR as using the CD changer cable is a nightmare based on its location. I made a permanent connection in the rear using other sources!

PM me and we can discuss further!

Andy.

Did you only buy the module, or you has attitudes altered navi with the ressler and navcoder also? Because if your entered/changed settings, you need again to plays in the new software...
