Brightness on E46 16:9 screen.

Hi all.

I find my 16:9 screen is not bright enough in sunny days, even when I have the brightness control to maximum level.

Also, I understand the little hole beneath the screen is an ambient light sensor. Should it not serve to automatically modify brightness dependant on ambient light? It does not seem to work in my unit, i.e.: if I cover the hole with my finger there is no reaction whatsoever. Is this normal behavior?

Is there a way to tweak the unit to increase brightness? Maybe some internal variable resistor to be modified?

Thanks

ive noticed that in the service menu there is an additional adjustment for brightness, might pay to see if you can turn that up.

And there are adjustments for contrast, viewing angle and brightness inside the display. Disassembly required!

Thank you both for your answers.

The service menú adjustment is the same as available in the setting menu. It is just a repeater. It is at max setting too, anyway.

No problem with disassembly. That is exactly what I was looking for, not having found any other way. Can you provide detail instructions or diagrams?

About the ambient light sensor ... Is the way it does not work with me normal behavior?

Thanks again
