How do you enable the MP3 titles?

I have the MP3 changer and the newer BM54 unit.

I get the TR-0-01 on my screen but I do not see the ID3 of the MP3s.

Is there a menu like this where I have to enable something?

Just found it...

I had to press the info button while playing an MP3 disc. I got the audiotext option which was unticked. Once selecting it, ID3 text was displayed.

All good!

To get 'Audio Text' you require :

Radio (BM53 US or BM54 Europe) September 2005 build or later
CD Changer September 2005 build or later
Mk IV Nav computer with V24 or higher software.

Do you need the Radio?
Can you just have a MkiV v24, and a Sept 2005 build or later cd changer, and this will work for the MP3 disks in the changer?

If you don't update the radio you will be able to play MP3's from the changer but you wont be able to get the MP3 information displayed.

The Radio is the only device, appart from the Sirrius Radio, that can send iBus messages that display text on the screen. To display ID3 info the CD Changer sends a message to the radio and the radio then sends the message to display the text. If you don't have the new radio then the display messages never get sent, although the CD Changer does send the ID3 information messages.

Does this also then apply to an ipod interface with a pre 2005 radio, no track info would be dispalyed?

It depends how the iPod interface works.

BMW's own interface does not display track info anyway.

Other third party interfaces, like the DICE, ice->Link and Gateway 300/400 don't display text in the lower area of the Nav screen, so will not be effected. The only one that does disply text in this area, the Intravee, is not dependent on the newer radio although it does require V24 software on a MK IV Nav computer to use some display modes.
