MK4 reads CD but not DVD Nav

hi, i have a 2004 X5 3.0 with a MK4 DVD Navigation. I can do Nav upgrades, CD reads fine to do upgrade file, but when it comes to loading DVD nav disc, I keep getting No DIsc Found, i tried resetting Nav, by pulling out fuses, even took the NAV out and unplugged it from behind. Still no luck. Bought new 2007 NAv disc, thought my 2004 was too scratched, same results. Disc Not Found. Any Suggestions??? or is my DVD Nav drive just no good anymore.

The CD laser is OK but the DVD laser is dead.

Replace the DVD drive with a new one, or send to VDO Siemens in Germany for repair, or buy another 2nd hand Mk4 nav unit as a replacement.

Given that your car is <4 years old, maybe you can get the unit replaced under warranty from the dealer.

If you replace it yourself, I will consider buying the old Mk4 nav unit, as a source of spare parts.
