mk4 sat nav (v29.1) 2004 maps - speed cameras??

Hi,

Been reading this forum for a while but this is my first post.

I have read through a load of posts and managed to upgrade my sat nav os to ver 29.1. Many thanks to everyone involved, it was suprisingly easy.

Reading through other topics, it would appeaer that you can add speed cameras to the maps.

I have 2004 OEM maps which I seriously cannot afford to update (unless there's someone selling DVD's cheap???).

Is there any way to upgrade my system to include speed cameras etc, without the need to update the map disc?

Any help would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forums mate,

Not sure if you can add speed cameras to the 2004 map disc or not, i'd have to look at the disc structure to give you a definate answer, but i think it is only 2006 onwards.

You could try and looking on eBay for a newer version of the map disc.

The diference from 2006 onwords that it is all on a map cd/dvd, versions before that get icons from satnav, so if u want to display a speedcam you would have to upload new icon to the satnav software cd and upload it the alternative is to for instance replace idx and url for policestations and you will get a police car icon showed when there is a speedcam around.

However this is just theoretical i have not tried it as ccfj1 says you nead to post your eng.lng file so we can take a look at it and se how it is build up
