Need help with MK4 problem please

Hi, I have bought a MK4 nav computer which is not working correctly.

The red power light only illuminates when the ignition is in position 1 or above, so if you open the boot without the key in the ignition, the nav computer does not power up as it should and it also does not power down after a minute or so when you turn off the ignition, it turns off immediately.

The result is it doesn't save the location of where it was last, so everytime you turn on the ignition, it always thinks it is somewhere else. It seems to have saved the settings from where the firmware was last upgraded so always turns on with it thinking it is in the place where it was last upgraded. Once you turn the ignition on it always seems to find where it is in a couple of minutes.

It doesn't seem to have saved any settings either, e.g. if you left it in split screen mode, it always turns on in full screen mode, it doesn't remember any last destinations, and you have to go through the hidden menu and turn on perspective view everytime you turn the ignition on etc.

I have upgraded the firmware to V29.1 and it is still the same. Anyone know how I can fix this??

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Fauly flash memory, replace, or send to Siemens VDO in Wetzler Germany for repair.
