MK4 not turning off ... HELP HELP HELP

I've recently wired the whole nav and TV setup, i tested it on my MK3, works great, nothings wrong...

so i put my new MKIV in, works great too.. for 1day...

but just then, i was going back to my car to pick up something i left there earlier today and noticed that the Monitor is NOT turning on (don't even have back light). (radio still runs).

so i sat in the car, put my key in, turn on the car, still nothing on the screen, only after about 20secs, the screen turns on directly showing the nav mode (so skipped the splash screen). all function works (TV / Nav / OBC / radio / cd changer) first i thought everything seem ok at this point, but later realise the radio power bottom is not lighting up....

this is weird~~~

i pull the key out, locked the car try again, same thing happened.

-------------------------------

at this point i want to swith back to my MKiii to see if that does the same thing, but my MKIV wouldn't turn it self off!!!!

i locked everything except having the trunk open, the MKIV light was solid then start flashing (9 flashes) then solid then flashing

... normally it should turn itself off in about 1 min, but i waited and waited.. no sign of it self going into the shut off mode...

do the Ibus give signal to the nav to turn off? i am thinking maybe i stuff up the wire splicing when i did my ibus cable.... (i used the BMW splicing connector btw)

did you give the vehicle time to recognize the new hardware? The i-bus sends out queries and adapts to what's out there.

thank you for your quick reply, it had a day to work with all these,

and when i first installed my MKIII, it works great without any problem the first go.

... i just went back to my car unpluged nav, and even the Tv module is not working porperly

- Normally with only the TV module (connected to the orinigal blue 18 pin plug), when doors are opened, date and time will displayed at the bottom of the screen (instead of the splash screen).

- now nothing displays, it just won't show a thing.

------------------------------

then i tried with the the nav, same sympton as i previously described in OP...

------------------------------

so i just wonder if it's the IBUS that sends info to the TV / Nav unit to let them know when to turn off / start?

The Mk4 will only turn off as follows:

ignition off, key out
all doors and bonnet closed (boot can stay open)
to be extra sure, close all windows and sunroof as well
then after 60 seconds (sometimes a bit longer) the Mk4 will switch off

The Mk4 nav monitors ibus activity and switches off only after 60s of no ibus data traffic happening

If something in the car is still talking, the Mk4 will stay awake a bit longer

If the Mk4 starts up with no splash screen, it shows it did a warm start (ie: the nav wasn't completely powered down)

The splash screen only appears during a cold start (after a complete shutdown)

Double-check your ibus wiring!

thank you Jo.

The MK4 basically stayed on for the whole night, it was really hot when i return to the car the next day morning and no splash screen...

problem was fixed by removing the negative terminal of the battery for 30 min.

i initially thought that i stuff up the ibus cable when i splice it...
