NAV Help. '97 E38

Hey guys,

I was recommended here by my guys over at BimmerBoard. Great place BTW. I was here over the summer when I bought my MKIII.

Anyway, I had to get my car coded and when I got it back my MKIII was in US mode. Drag. I liked the UK MENU a lot better and dont really like hitting ACCEPT every time.

I know for the ACCEPT I can download the two discs and get it rolling but for the MENU, I was pointed to this post (and a sticky as I see) about NavTweaker. I downloaded the right files but they show up blank. Where do I go from here? Also the guy at the dealer the other day said check it out and let them know. You think I could get them to change it back?

TIA!

Use NavCoder to change the coding on your car from US to Europe mode to get rid of the Accept screen

How hard is to get ahold of a NavCoder?

I downloaded V30 last night but it didnt take to my MKIII. I think I need to burn it at a slower speed or figure out what I did wrong. I read that V27 gets rid of that screen after eight seconds and I heard from Keith V30 will do the same?

Its about to win though! If I cant get this figured out today Im gonna throw in the towel and let it be for now!

NavCoder can be downloaded here:
http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/k...l/NavCoder.zip

The auto-disappear of the nag screen applies to the Mk4 only.

If you have a Mk3, check your software version.
3-1/63 was the last version ever released by BMW.
Development (and bug fixes) are finished for the Mk3, so loading any OS CD newer than V22 makes no difference to a Mk3. V22 through V30 all contain 3-1/63

When making OS discs, you MUST burn it as a Mode2/Form1 disc, otherwise it will crash the Mk3.
Use ImgBurn which can create the disc in the correct format

Jochen

Thanks for the link. If V30 isnt going to do anything then Ill just get it off my computer and get some space back. It had V29 when I bought it in July and it is 3-1/63.

I need to read and figure things out before I kill this place with dumb posts! I guess it is worth it as long as its coded and wont leave me stranded again.

Thanks for the help J,

With 3-1/63 installed, inserting V30 won't do or change anything at all.

Your MkIII nav is as up-to-date as it can ever be, you never need to load an other OS version on it again.

Im gonna work on that NavCoder thing and see about eventually getting it to go.

Do you have to hook up with iBus to get it to work?

Yes, NavCoder requires a direct connection to the ibus in your car, using an ibus interface.

The readme file tells you how to make or purchase an ibus interface
