MK3 firmware update question

Hello, I am new to the forum and was told this is a good place to inquire about navigation upgrades. I have a 95 E38 740il BMW with 16:9 wide screen and Land Rover MKIII running 3 - 1/31. I have attempted to upgrade the OS on the RR unit with V22.1 and V24.1 and everytime I insert the CD into the drive it gives me an error message saying that the CD inserted is incorrect.

I was wondering what version OS I can update to so I can remove the Land Rover Splash Screen and get a BMW roundel and if anyone can fill me in on the process. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also was wondering what was required to make a custom spalash screen...Would be cool to have a picture of my car when I open my door.

i had an MKIII with v.17 and upgraded to v.29 but needed CD key, and after that it was successful. Perhaps, you might want to burn a different version or same version but slower speed, that might help. I'm sure UCrewX5 will see this and will provide help. GL

Both the versions I have on CD were given to me from a BimmerBoard member to try. I was told that he used them on his car so it should be a working copy.

Is the update the same on the RR units? Or do I need to use a navcoder to update to the BMW software?

I think from what I have read here previously that Land Rover nav computers cannot be forced to load the BMW firmware. I think Kiwijochen (author of Navcoder) is looking into ways to do it though.

You may want to contact him and offer yourself as a beta tester as I know he was looking for willing volunteers.

bump, don't want to bury this thread too deep. Still looking for people with success stories of loading BMW software on RR Nav.
