4-1/60 is v26. You should update to any v28/v29/v30 (they're basically the same for MKIV) to get perspective mode, as well as other minor bug fixes.
The mdf and mds are CD images. You should not burn the files into a CD, but use an application to read those images and burn what's inside. In other words, the CD you burn must have a lot of folders and files inside after being burnt.

You just need to start alcohol120, then open the mds or mdf (can't remember which but the correct extension is shown in the filetype selection) then burn the cd. Use x1 speed like you said.
To upgrade just switch the ignition on, put the disk in and follow the instructions. If it fails and you can't eject the disk, just leave the car switched off for about 25 mins, then unlock and hit the eject button quickly. |

Do not burn at 1x. burn at the speed supported by your blank disc, then check the disc quality afterwards. For example my burner will create a bad disc at 1x, but a good clean disc at 16x.
