Yes the procedure is the same, but the 2009-1 and 2009-2 disc are not exactly the same, there is some renumbering of the idx and url files, so don't just copy the working ITA.LSC (ENG.LSC in my case) from the 2009-1 to the 2009-2.

But I've done this and its the same procedure.

The top end .idx/.url numbers.

Open the ita.lsc files for both discs and you will see the differences, thankfully its only the .idx/.url files, pretty much everything else is the same.

Thanks a lot for your helpful tips.

I had a look at both files. The one that is ok with 2009-1 was edited with pimp-my-nav (not by me). I compared this file with the new one taken from 2009-2 and I realized where the differencies are as follows:
1. new category-id in group-id 2 (22 - 12 - 32)
2. new TPD-GRP (12 - 22 - 32)
3. new TPD CAT (12: 13 TO 15. 22: 23 TO 30 and 32: 33 to 39)
4. new data in ICONSDSC <category id> data tree for above mentioned items
5. new data in TPD-SEA <cat id> <search form file>
6. new data in TPD-SEARCH-ENGINE-VARIABLES etc

Said that, I am going to cut and paste and save a new lsc file in text format. I have just two point to clear:

- how do I fix discrepancies between .IDX/.URL files. I mean, some of the numbers that I would need are already in use in the new file. Example: in new file 0083 and 0084 are used for "college" but in the old one they are used for fixed cameras. How can I fix it? Just rename "college" or what..

- once I have the lsc file that makes me happy...how do I put my own POIs into the dbase?

Thanks for any help. (as tou can see I am improving..am I?? )

That looks about right.

rename 0083 and 0084 (and the sf+st files, plus the ita.lsc), I renamed mine to 1083 and 1084 (just to keep it easy).

Always keep the OEM stuff the same, change your edits, that way you don't break the OEM stuff.

Indeed you are my friend, comming on a treat.

You need the db files, say kfc.csv, then use a poi converter to make the kfc.url and kfc.idx files, then make new sf+st html files, then add to disc image.

OK.

Get the data from a POI database, like pocketgpsworld or POIplaza

POIplaza - Free POI databases for almost every navigation system

use asc2mk4_high.exe (do a google search for it).

SF+ST files are in the same dir (SE dir) and you must have both for the POIs to work.

Copy some already made ones and edit them for your needs.

hallo,

I did everything as suggested and I will have the "field test" tomorrow..hope it'll work.

So far it seems to me that after all the modding to the .LSC file the ONLY thing to keep the map updated is to update .IDX and .URL files for the relevant POIs. (download POI->change them to asc format->make new IDX/URl file and put them into the image).
Am I correct?
Thanks

Correct, once the donkey work has been done, then as you say only update the IDX/URl files.
