Nav screen off at start up - possible?

Does anyone know if the Nav screen can be set to be OFF at start up? Can or will the dealer do this? Personally, I'd prefer it to default to off unless I ask for it to be on...

In either the SETTINGS or MENU screen, there is a MONITOR OFF option.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but even if I turn the monitor off and shut the car off, the screen is on next time I start the car. How does it work for you?

For a MkIV or MkIII system that is on V19 or higher, it should return to the same screen you were on when you turned off the vehicle. So if you had it on a radio screen then that is where it should return to. If you had it on a nav screen then that is what it should return to.

To be honest, I never gave it a shot to see if it would turn back on at the next startup after selecting the OFF option.

I know how it is, man. You meet some fine honey at the club. She admires the shiny BMW, wants you to take her for a drive. You've both had a few adult grape juices or oat sodas, but you need to score, so you get those keys jinglin' and speed off. You are parked at the end of a dark street, possibly high above a scenic view. You have your hot little thang in the passenger seat. Things get graphic. You shut off all the interior light switches, so that when you open the door to get into the backseat, no one will see what's happenin. Than after you've had your bidness audited, you don't want that pesky Nav screen lighting up, giving away your position, or revealing that you've maybe just beer-goggled yourself into some flagrante delecto with someone you'd run away from in fear at the grocery store.

Good thing they didn't have Nav in the '87 IROC, I'd have been trying to figure out how to keep that screen dark like you don't even know!
