No problem mate, First, you need to download a couple of applications first. (these are not the only ones you can use, its the ones I use, that’s all).

imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com/
UltraIso: http://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/

To mod the splash screen you need this app.
Navtweak: http://rapidshare.com/files/8925524/navtweak.zip.html

Then the latest version on the firmware.
v29.1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TNC9LTY2

This next bit sounds complicated, but is straight forward.

1: unzip the v29.1 image to a sub dir on your PC
2: install and open UltraIso, open UltraIso and navigate to /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw then drag and drop the navboot file onto the desktop.
3: install and open navtweak, then open the navboot file into navtweak.
4: select the images tab, then the rombitmaps tab, and then scroll down to #14 and the right click and replace the image (with a one you downloaded and kept on you desktop).
5: save the navboot file (after making a copy of the original, just in case)
6: drag and drop the modded navboot file back into the open UltraIso image and overwrite the old navboot file with the modded one.
7: save the UltraIso (file, save as) and call it v29-modded.iso
8: install and open imgburn, open the v29-modded.iso file and place a blank CD in your DVD writer, then write at x1 speed only
9: follow the update procedure for upgrading the Nav computer.

Job done.

The nav unit doesn't allow it to "update" with the same software as already installed.

So you already have v29 installed then you can downgrade to v28 the back up again.

Thats it.

This is what i have

Dear sunny,
please follow the below instructions exactly other wise you will face the problems again and again, i was having same trouble till i follow these instructions noting that navtwaek is great for editing the navboot but not the logo screen, you have to use gifextractor for this issue.now follow these.
1- be sure the firmware is in .iso format using either magic iso,ultraiso,poweriso,etc..
2- You will need the below programs and please only these programs
2.1 - Gifextractor download = http://www.efilament.ae/downloads/GifExtractor.exe
2.2- ultra iso download = http://www.carmes.de/download/downlo...fExtractor.exe
2.3 - .net libraries download = http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

3- install all of the above.
4- open ultra iso then in the below right screen locate the .iso ( firmware ) and drag it to the screen above it ( screen is like a square)
when u will drag it it will show all files in this .iso image.
5- when all files will show Locate "navboot" file. Usually located in \V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S\app_sw\
6- when u locate it, right click on it the choose extract to desktop.
7- when u extract to desktop, open gifextractor, then tick the three box's which you will see below in the end of the program which is ( correcr crc24,read complicated gif, and dont check file size )
8-in the top of the program you will find icon ( find file ) press it and locate the navboot file in the desktop then press open
9- then becide the ( find file 0 there is a bottom (extract ) press it
10- now, the program extract many files , press on each of them till you find the image ( =====BMW=====)
11- go down becide the three box's there is a box called selct image to exchange
12- now select the .gif image and press open .NOTE ( image must be .gif, single frame, 8 bit, 400x234 and the smaller the better but its tested with my image which is 36 KB and its working perfectly.
13- after you select the image close the program and run it again 9 gifextractor )
14- again do the above steps to check wether the image is loaded or not, dont exchange the image again, just check if its loaded then close the program, and be sure every time you start the program click the three box's before extracting the file so it can read your imahe.
15-now go back to the ultraiso which you open in the begenning
and in the same folder which you extract the navboot from press f3 then select the modifed navboot in the desktop and select it , you will be promoted to overwrite, for sure press yes.
16- now you are ready to burn, press f7 and then locate the image file and burn it, this wil work then.
for any other info or help im ready.
thanks. good luck

mate,
no.7 is related to gif extractor only, now find file means where is the navboot, now be sure where did u extract the navboot file from the main image which contains all files, now when u r sure u did all the other steps from 1 to 6 , then load the file into gifextractor and then press extract.

Hi
Thanks Hollow man for all your help, ive finally cracked it.. !!

Just one problem, the Image seems to loose colour and resolution, I think this is due to it being in a JIG format. Does it realy been to be in this format or can I use another i.e. BMP/JPEG ? + if you can whats the best format ?

Can anyone help on this subject ?
Thanks
Sunny

GIF IMAGE ONLY

hey mate,

you only can use the gif image, not any other, as far as i know. i need you to upload the pic after it has been changed to 8 bit, so i can tell u if that is fine, 8 bit means 256 colors, the image still would look fine. i can advice u to use phot shop u can download it with crack through u torrent. i guess u r using the wrong program thats why u got this.

ok mate, one small update, u can use 32 Bit depth instead of 8. All i was thinking is that we can't use a 32 bit, but it worked for me. I don't know it the system will read as 8, but the gif is 32 bit 400 X 234.
Now you can get the gif more clear.
Note : I have tried also an image with a size of 99 KB it worked normally.
cheers
