Burning issue - Navboot
I changed few words in strings(language) menu in the navboot file + sw version in the 2 .tbl files (instead of last 30 I put 32) . Then I made a new image - changing the 2 tbl's + navboot . I saved the image and burned it with the slowest speed - 8x . When I put it into navi , first boot screen shows up , then it thinks , reboots and shows up again and so on and so on . The only thing which comes to my mind is an extention of the navboot file . Navtweak saves navboot file as non-extentioned . When I change it , the whole name changes and I'm afraid that navi won't see the navboot . What should I do to avoid that problem ? Waiting for ideas , Refugee |

Hey ,
Sorry for writing post by post . I've done some tests and I may cross out some of my speculations ... I burned few CDs - 1st was with changed navboot and version in 2 .tbl files , 2nd one was with only changed .tbl files , and 3rd was clear but burned by making an image , cause I wanted to check if it's not a burning problem . What turns out ... 1st and 2nd CD stops in exactly the same moment - it's in "software wird geladen" screen , but the progress bar doesn't appear and it gets stuck . But 3rd CD installs and works pretty well without any troubles . Conclusion : it's probably fault of changing version in .tbl's . Cause even if it was fault of navboot , the 2nd CD should have installed , am I wrong ? Now I'm asking you for the solution , 'cause I did everything following the ccfj1's guide replacing 30 into 31 in the hex code with XVI32 . What I might have done wrong ? Hoping for help , Refugee Last edited by Refugee; 01-11-2008 at 02:41 PM. |

What version of OS are you modding?
What Nav comupter are you using (Mk3 or MK4)? If you are using a Mk3 then it's a very tricky process indeed, even for changing something as simple as changing the splash screen, every file that gets modded must have the same format as the orginal, also the saved ISO file (ready for burning) must be of the same format as an unmodded iso, Also x8 may be a bit on the quick side, I always burn a OS disc at x1 speed. I have a pile of coasters so high Sir Edmund Hillary would have a job climbing it. HTH.

I'm modding v29 and i'm using mk4 . It's probably not fault of burning speed , because 3rd cd was burn correctly and works well .
I think that I've done some errors in changing hexcode ,but I've got no idea where . I've just burned a cd without changing the version (just navboot) , so I'm gonna install any older version first and then I'll see if navboot was done well . ccfj1 , could you send me your .tbl files with changed version to the newer one ? I'd be really glad . my mail : 0refugee0 at gmail.com |
