Stock 2003 4.6...thinking about updating NAV S/W but...

hello Guys.! long time without posting.
So, i have the stock 03 4.6I with Nav. i believe comes with MKIV.

I have downloaded into a CD V30. I got the instructions, it cant be that simple, it is a BMW afterall...

Am i missing something, or it is really that simple. Im trying to get my NAV no too look so old/basic. I heard with the V30 i could have 3D, and other cool stuff, any feedback guys..?

Yes, it is that simple. Burn the OS image to CD. Put the CD in the nav computer. Wait about 6 minutes for the update to complate.

Brian. thx.
Another question, i have the V30 update in a CD-R as a .RAR file. Do i need to convert that file to something else and then re-write onto a new CD-R..?. What do you mean by OS IMAGE..? sorry, i just dont want to me$$ this up, you know....

YOu need to do a few more steps. A *.RAR file is a compressed format, kind of like a WinZIP file. So, you first have to uncompress the RAR file. That will give you CD image files that you use something like ImgBurn or Nero to burn a CD from the image. That is what you put in the nav computer.

Brian. Thank you for your patience, i am apperently "CD burning-challenged". This is where i am. I extracted the RAR into 2 separate files, the MDF and the MDS, i got those in my desktop. I downloaded INGBURN and ALCOHOL 120 (which one is easier)...what now..? Im trying to pretend to my wife i know what im doing, so please step by step. i appreciate your help. she'll be nice to me if i can get her NAV to display in BIRD VIEW perspective.!

I prefer ImgBurn-- I think it's a bit easier.
  1. Uncompress the .RAR file with WinACE or WinRAR
  2. Put a blank CD in your CD-RW drive
  3. Start ImgBurn
  4. Click File|Browse for File
  5. Select the file NAV_SW.mds from the directory where you uncompressed the files
  6. Select the destination drive, if not already selected
  7. Select 1x as the speed
  8. Click the write button on the bottom left of the ImbBurn screen
  9. You're done
