Lightbulb 4:3 to 16:9 upgrade

I've replaced the CD Nav drive for the Latest DVD ver and its running 29.1 latest software 3D split screen etc...
I've changed the 4:3 screen for the 16:9 screen and the TV is in 4:3.

I heard you have to change the TV unit...is this 100% true?

Is there no adjustments you can make in the TV unit to adjust the hight and width to effectivly stretch it to fit?

I know this is a botch job, but it would look better and saves you over £300!

I used to be a TV engineer, and most TVs have adjustable "pots" inside for Virtical hold, Hosizontal hold, wide, hight etc...

Just wondered if anyone has had these apart.
