E60 Navi Business Firmware

Hallo. I was wondering if there is any way do determine the firmware version of my navigation. I have a BMW E60 Navi Business with iDrive. Currently, the background of the main menu is in brown (as i understand, it is a clear indicator of an older version) and i do not have panoramic view. Also, where could i find an upgrade? Thank you in advance

You can find a ton of specific information for your car on forums.e60.net.

You can get into your CCC "secret" menu following the steps below. Then, go into the navigation section to find your OS version. I do not know the latest version available, and only a dealer can update the OS.
  • Push down knob 15+ seconds from the initial screen (after eliminating the US disclaimer screen)
  • Turn 3x right
  • Turn 3x left
  • Turn 1x right
  • Turn 1x left
  • Turn 1x right
  • Push down and release

you'll need to get a software flash from the dealer. the brown background is definitely an older version (mine is a silver-grey).

the only way to get your true software version is via the dealer and they are gonna be very, very hesitant to give you a flash (you may have an older version that can't be updated). it takes about 4 hours to do it, and sometimes it fails, and they'll have to start all over again.

your best bet is to find SIBs that points out specific problems that you have and try to talk the dealer into the software flash. good luck with that

Actually , I've heard recently that there're two ways to update e60 , e90 etc. soft . The first and most common way is by the dealer ,who has a weird device which is most probably connected to the internet . But as far as I know , some version have been released on the disc to put into our units .

Really don't know if it's true , somebody to confirm ?

Through internet Progman gets an update.
