Display problems

I have a 530D first registered in Dec 2002. It is fitted with a a 16:9 display (BMW part 65.52-6 923 879 ZB Bordmonitor). Recently the display stopped working; it is completely black, although from time to time horizontal lines flash across the screen in seemingly random positions. Occasionally however the display appears to function properly - the BMW logo pops up, followed by a perfectly correct display. This situation does not last for long, and the blank screen (with occasional flashes) comes back.

Any ideas? Is it the monitor or the computer? Can it be fixed?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think it's your computer.

Try a SW update to V30 (SW 4-1/91).
CD burned at Mode2 at the slowest burn speed.
