Are you using an original or a copied map disk? These things hate copied map disks, and they can cause the system to freeze and reboot. Try it with the disk removed or with a different, original map disk.

I have this problem to !!

Today I updated my software from V28 to v29.1.
Everything went well, no errors, after 2 minutes it was done.

I ejected my v29 cd an inserted back my 2006 High map dvd.
After 2 minutes my screen began rebooting, every 10seconds,
and after a reboot or 3 it freezed, couldnt do anything.

Turnd the car off, waited 5 minutes, turned back on.. same problem (booting, freezing)

I took my 2006 High cd (original) out and everything goes fine, no freezing, everything smoothly.

Cleaned the dvd, and put it back in. Again freezing.

What can be the problem?
Can it be the dvd? (never had an nav problem in 3 years)
Or could it be my dvd reader thats broke? Maybe by changing the software cd and map dvd a few times that my lens is fucked up?

Any solutions, ?? please

I never had any problem as if today when i flashed my software

Had the same isssue, it turned out to be CD media that i was using for software CD.
So you nead other brand CD, to burn cd again, before you do that replace your file in /V2/RR/101/BMWC01S/ with the files below, (change name from wma to zip and unzip) this will make the MK IV think that it is new software and update again
Save the old files in case that you have to do it again.
Attached Files
File Type: wmv sw-rel.tbl.zip.wmv (329 Bytes, 91 views)

Try downgrading to an earlier OS to see how that goes first. It could be your DVD laser or the DVD itself, but I doubt it.

So you dont think it could be the dvd (wich always worked) or the dvd reader?

I thought of downgrading but i didnt wanted to risk it getting stuck if the problem was the dvd reader.

I will try a downgrade now with a different brand of cdr
